About Feltmeupdesigns

Meet The Artist

Melanie Bedder Green is an artist/maker based in the seaside town of Scarborough on the beautiful North Yorkshire Coast, surrounded by rolling moors and faded seaside glamour. She studied multi media textile design at Loughborough University, specialising in machine embroidery and graduating in 2001.

Melanie learned felt making through her local community centre where she discovered a passion for wool. A Self confessed bird nerd, she creates needle felted birds from merino wool, wire and beads. Her designs draw on nature for inspiration, mixing cartoonish whimsy with realistic detail to create unique creatures in her distinct style.

Working from an artists collective at Hanover Studios, Scarborough, Melanie creates her designs under the name of Feltmeupdesigns and has exhibited her creations as part of Open Studios. She is currently working on a series of “Flocks” making large colonies of various birds to highlight environmental issues such as extinction and ocean plastics.
